Topiary Tree

In our last class we made a topiary tree. Topiary is the art of creating sculptures in trees, shrubs, etc. Our topiary tree was created along the same idea, but is made solely out of flowers.

Class #4 - L is for LOVE

We focused on another linear design this class: the L. Since it's almost Valentine's Day, we made an L shape arrangement, and tonight, L is for Love; hence the plastic Valentine's Day heart stuck in there.

Call me traditional, but I'm still holding out for some roses on Valentine's Day!

Class #2 - Low and Long

Tonight we made a similar arrangement to last week's class; however this was a low and long shape rather than a round sphere. I went with spring colors tonight even though it's still very much winter!

Again, you can see the before and after the ride on the T to get home.

Class #1: Autumn Mix

Monday night was my first class in centerpiece design. The class is taught by an amazing Florist who followed her passion in floral design after years in teaching. One can only imagine how nice it must be to work with flowers every day after dealing with crazy teenagers every day for years!

The arrangement we worked on in the first class consisted of Black Magic Roses, orange roses, hypericum berries, mums, and other elements for unique touches such as silk leaves and curly willow stems. I'm not usually a huge fan of any kind of silk flowers, but the 4 leaves we stemmed and inserted added a nice harvest touch! Here's a few more pictures!
