A Fall Recap!

It has been a busy fall, and I completely fell behind in updating this blog, so I'm going to try to catch up with a fall recap!  September and October were fun months for flowers. The fall weddings were so colorful, filled with golden yellows, pumpkin oranges, cranberry reds, and eggplant purples!  I also met some great vendors this fall, and have tried to provide links for all of them!  I had the privilege of meeting an amazingly talented photographer, Heather Parker, who photographed my sister's wedding at The Omni Parker House in Boston, and I had the opportunity to meet and work with Michele Puopolo at JS Moran Special Event Planning and Management for the Family Services Legacy Gala. Check out the links below for some more great vendors!

Here's a quick recap from the past two months:

Jessica & Matt: Hyatt Regency, Boston

Jessica and I went to Bentley together, but I have to thank my friend Ying for recommending me to her!  Jessica had such a great color scheme picked out when we met - I was so excited for these flowers!  Although she knew the colors she wanted, she was open to different options for flowers, and I think we ended up with something beautiful and unique!

A few days before the wedding I got a package in the mail from Jessica's soon to be mother-in-law.  It contained some colorful ribbon for the bridesmaid bouquets and a piece of lace from her wedding dress that she had given to Jessica to use as her "something old".  When I got to the hotel to drop the flowers off, her mother-in-law teared up when she saw Jessica's bouquet.  It's little moments like that that really make me love what I do :)

Jessica's bouquet was made up of hydrangeas, dahlias, and Picasso calla lilies.  Her bridesmaids carried bouquets of lisianthus, dahlias, calla lilies, carnations, orchids, and dianthus.

The centerpieces were a mix of various sized vases filled with orchids, lisianthus and dahlias.  The remaining centerpieces contained kale, dianthus, carnations, orchids, dahlias, and calla lilies.

Jessica was so laid back when we met to talk about her flowers, and the day of the wedding she was still so genuinely happy and carefree!  Congrats and best wishes to Jessica and Matt!!

Matt & Mandy: Turner Hill

Matt and Mandy are such a fun couple - I was so excited and honored to be a part of their day.  This is one of the few weddings that I did the flowers for, and was also a guest at the wedding!  Their wedding had so many fun unique details, from all the monogrammed accents, to their dog Lexi being a part of their ceremony, to the amazingly delicious cupcake tower from Cupcake Charlie's!  If you have not been to Cupcake Charlie's you have not lived!!

Mandy put so much thought into the flowers she wanted for her wedding.  Her mother and mother-in-law each had unique flowers in their bouquets that were in their bouquets when they got married.  Mandy also incorporated these flowers (gardenias and lilies) into her own bouquet of hydrangea, roses, gardenias, lilies, and delphinium.  Her bridesmaids carried contrasting blue hydrangea with white accent flowers.

The ceremony isle was lined with shepard hooks from which we hung small galvinized pails full of white hydrangea.  The alter area was also marked with more white hydrangea.  The reception was made up of a combination of high and low centerpieces containing hydrangea, roses, garden roses and dahlias.

Because I had to run off to get ready to attend the wedding, I completely forgot to take pictures of all these gorgeous flowers!!  I did snap a few during the reception, but please check out some MUCH better pictures taken by Matt and Mandy's photographer, Melissa Coe here, or copy and paste the link below into your web browser:

Thank you Matt and Mandy for asking me to be a part of your wedding.
We are so happy for you - Congratulations!

Erica & Brenton: Duxbury, MA

The second wedding I did this past weekend was for Erica and Brenton, who got married in the backyard of the groom's parent's house in Duxbury.  Erica had such a great vision for their backyard wedding!
I LOVED these table names!

Pink hydrangea was the only flower used aside from the calla lilies in the bride's bouquet (of course I forgot to take a picture!) and in the boutonnieres.  The pink was a fun pop of color against the white tent and linens.  The bridesmaids also carried a single stem of pink hydrangea to compliment their fun pink-patterned dresses!
The white paper lanterns were gorgeous hanging from the inside of the tent.  All the decorations were perfectly understated, which is the way to go when you have an amazing view like this!
Florist by day, paparazzi by night!  I took a few pictures from the boat on our way to dinner that night.
Congratulations Erica and Brenton!  You were such a joy to work with and I wish you all the best!

Ashley & Shawn: Red Lion Inn, Cohasset

This past weekend I had the privilege of doing the flowers for two weddings.  The first one was Ashley and Shawn, who got married at the Red Lion Inn in Cohasset.  Cohasset is such a pretty town on the South Shore, and the Red Lion Inn is a charming rustic venue right in the center of town.

The sunflowers mixed with lots of wildflowers and daisies in galvanized pails was a perfect match for the feel of the venue.

The bride also carried sunflowers mixed with hydrangea and aster in her bouquet.

The bridesmaids carried a simple bouquet of dark purple hydrangeas to match their fabulous purple shoes!
Congratulations Ashley and Shawn - Thank you again for allowing me to be a part of your day!

Erin's Bridal Shower

The second shower this month was for my sister, Erin, who is getting married October 8th in Boston. The shower took place at Meadow Creek in Dracut, MA, in the Gallery room, a great spot for a shower or rehearsal dinner.  Nancy Woods and the rest of the Meadow Creek staff were friendly, professional, and extremely accommodating.

Erin reads more books than anyone I have ever met, and is easily one of the smartest people I know. I wanted her shower to be smart and sophisticated, but also fun and summery.

My mom helped in collecting the books we used in the centerpieces.  I failed to specify what type of books I needed, so it was pretty funny to find books titled "Vengeance in Death" in the pile!  Luckily we had a few extras and were able to weed out the murder mysteries!

I heart Martha Stewart punchers!  This heart shaped confetti was punched from "Confessions of a Shopaholic", a subtle tribute to my sister's style and shopping habits :)
I ordered these mugs from Anthropologie over a year ago.  I first saw them on http://www.stylemepretty.com/, and had to have them!  These mugs are now available to rent for bridal showers and weddings from APFD!

I couldn't be happier for Erin and Dean, and cannot wait for October 8th!

Summer Bridal Shower

In the past few weeks I've had the opportunity to do the flowers for two completely different, but equally fabulous summer bridal showers. The first shower was for a fellow Bentley Alumni, Christina, who is getting married in October in Newport, RI.

Her bridesmaids wanted something in hot bold summer colors, like fuchsia, orange and lime green.

Christening Flowers ~ Ava Rose

Today was the christening for my favorite niece!  She was such a happy baby all day - as always!  Luckily the rain held off for most of the day, and we were able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view of Duxbury Bay.  Here are a few pictures of the flowers from today.

'Auntie Blondie' waited all day for this picture with baby Ava :)
